Sorry for the radio silence, but thank God we were able to sneak away to Costa Rica for some surfing, spear fishing, fishing, camping on the beach, visiting friends, family, and big meals. Caught some good waves up to 4′ over head, and some nice fast, powerful, barrels too. So powerful, one actually wrenched my arm so bad it tore some ligaments in my rotator cuff, which I’ve been dealing with the last month – sleeping is still painful. I could not paddle or push off my board to stand for the last 3 weeks of my trip, so I road my knee board on my belly and paddled with one arm, like a “total kook!” I stayed off the main peaks, but still caught small barrels and I could actually make some cut backs using my knees back on the tail of the board. I could still spear fish too, so I had a great time, thank God.
This week I did some glass work on the big boat. I’m going to grind it in today, then put all the hardware back in. Hopefully I can then barrier coat the lower unit, and bottom paint it. I will bottom paint the bottom where it has washed off, then I’ll be back in the water for my booked trips coming up.
My most current “fish reports” and photos are on my Face Book page which the link is up towards the top of this home page, just under the first 4 pictures, left hand column. However, I might move my fishing reports to a “blog page,” which will be linked from my home page of course. I might post on both, because my FB is starting to get more viewers too.
From May 2016 to June 2021 Rick ran a 63′ Merritt sport fisherman “culminating a lifetime dream!” Great fish were caught, and interesting trips abroad and on anchor. They caught a 350 lb and a 95 lb swordfish on standard rod and reel (no electric); 4 blue marlin in 3 days for 6 hooked up; 5 sailfish in half a day; an est. 80 lb black grouper and a 65 lb cubera snapper on deep jigging spinning rods; and many sailfish, dolphin (mahi mahi), tunas, nice mutton snappers, groupers, yellowtail snappers, etc.
In June of 2021 the owner put the boat up for sale, and Rick is back “full time charter fishing!” So happy to be back to his life, and taking clients out to fulfill their “dream of a lifetime!”
Last fall’s BIG NEWS (the new website) has not developed yet. I just could not make the time while in CR to start on that. I still want to redesigning my whole website. I have been wrestling with which way to go, but I now go with both: 1) a custom Word Press site, and 2) clean up my old site, and try to learn the new html 4-5 slowly. What I’m afraid of is, loosing my integral Page Ranking that my site has acquired over the years.
