Sight-Fishing Tailing Permit

Target Trophy Permit on the Flats and Wrecks of the Florida Keys

Permit are one of the most respected gamefish in the Keys because they are smart, spooky, and stubborn once hooked. This is not blind fishing. We hunt them. On the flats, we ease along looking for tails and dark shapes sliding over white sand and turtle grass. On the wrecks, we focus on current, structure, and bait. When a permit finally eats, you will know it! Get ready for long, steady runs and a fight that does not quit. If you want a true challenge and a real shot at a trophy fish, this is the trip.

Permit do not give you many easy chances. On the flats, everything matters: light, tide, wind, angles, and presentation. We set up on classic Islamorada flats where permit travel, feed, and tail, watching for nervous water and those distinctive black tails breaking the surface. On the wrecks, we time the current and drift, presenting baits where permit hold above structure. Either way, when one commits, it is a serious fish on the end of the line.
