Susan Haight caught her first permit, a big, 43 pounder (on the scale), off one of the local wrecks last week. It fought with every ounce of its body in that 100 foot water. It took every bit of 25 minutes, maybe even 30.

This is the largest permit we have caught, period. I'm so glad, because she and her husband, Dwight, are some of my longest clients.

Dwight Haight and son, Chris, catch a couple nice permit off my big boat. This is a great fish and can be pursued at the end of a day of dolphin fishing, or done in between fishing different reef spots. Both these fish were just under 30 lbs.

What an excellent day fishing for permit and tarpon with Cam Griffin and friends:

6 permit (2 double headers), and 1 tarpon !

"Hard reverse," to keep the permit from getting into the wreck and breaking off.

This is a good problem to have: having to net 2 permit at once, not enough time to get the first fish out of the net.

Here is the tarpon that capped off a great day at sunset.

Another double header permit.
